Welcome to my first blog post! After having the travel bug for the last few years, a degree in journalism, and turning 30 at the end of March, I decided to take the plunge and blog about my travels.

I hope, to whoever is reading this, you enjoy reading about my trips, life in New Orleans, and anything else that I may decide to blog about in the future. Experiencing different parts of the country (and soon the world) is something that I love and planning every last detail of my family’s trips is what I do.
The name of this blog started because, in September 2016, the family decided that we wanted to see America and scratch some big-ticket items off of the bucket list (it is never too early to start!). Since mid-late September is shoulder season for some of the finest National Parks in the West, the weather was something us Southern City Gals were nervous about – what do we wear for an Outdoorsy vacation where the temperature can fall into the 40s!
Well, the travel uniform was decided – Plaid Shirts and Yoga Pants!
Don’t get me wrong, I love wearing dresses, heels, sandals and what not; but taking a road trip across four states, visiting four national parks, and endless sightseeing opportunities – we needed something comfortable!
Since the shoulder season is ending and summer right around the corner, I wanted to take some time to talk about my family’s Epic 9 day National Parks trip. As you will learn, many trips I plan are planned to the max.
Stay tuned to learn about what we did to visit:
- The Black Hills
- Mount Rushmore
- Custer State Park
- Needles Drive
- Badlands National Park
- Wind Cave National Park
- Jewel Cave National Monument
- The Middle of the Nation
- Devils Tower
- Custer Battlefield
- Old Trail Town
- Yellowstone National Park
- Grand Teton National Park

Needles highway was one of the best road trips week took on this epic road trip!
