Is New Orleans fun on the 4th of July?

New Orleans is fun on the Fourth of July! Not only does everyone come out for an Independence day celebration, but the Fourth of July Fireworks are some of the best in Louisiana.

Where can I watch the fireworks in New Orleans 4th of July?

You can watch fireworks on both the 3rd of July and the 4th of July! On The Third of July, you can go to City Park or Lafreniere park for a spectacular fireworks display. On the Fourth of July, you will want to be on the Mississippi River beginning promptly after sundown to catch a patriotic tribute.

Essence Festival

For music lovers, New Orleans is the perfect spot to spend the Fourth of July and the holiday weekend. The city offers multiple musical events around this time, such as Essence Festival at Caesars Superdome. Featuring national acts (previous years saw Nicki Minaj and Janet Jackson perform) as well as local musicians, it attracts thousands annually.

Not only does Essence Festival bring wonderful music acts, but it also brings tons of empowerment talks and sessions.

Go 4th on the River

For a more traditional experience, Go 4th on the River is the perfect way to celebrate. On the Mississippi River’s banks, 4th Fest offers live patriotic music and a spectacular firework show. At the Port of New Orleans, you can see the Roy S. Kelley fireboat, known for its impressive water show featuring patriotic flag-colored fountains.

Uncle Sam Jam

New Orleans is known for its unique culture, live music, and delicious cuisine, but they also know how to show patriotism! The Uncle Sam Jam is a free festival in Jefferson Parish with musical performances followed by the annual fireworks show at the Al Copeland Concert & Meadow Stage in the beautiful Lafreniere Park. It takes place on July 3rd annually and is always family-friendly.

Spectacular Fireworks Show

The fireworks display over the Mississippi River is one-of-a-kind. Witness spectacular dueling barges with two firework displays competing head-to-head – it’s an unforgettable sight that lights up the night sky like no other place on Earth.

You can watch the fireworks and battling steamboat show in Woldenberg Park, but one of my favorite places is to cross over the Rusty Rainbow into Crescent Park and capture great photographs of the fireworks display.
